I was in the work force for 42 and a half years, the last 40 spent in government service. For so long, retirement seemed like a far-off dream, but now it is reality. One thing that I've learned as an aging baby boomer is that many things are not as easy as they were in my twenties. On the other hand, there's not as much stress involved, either.

I suppose I have a quirky outlook on life. I try to not take things too seriously. I'm amused by the grammatical mistakes I see in advertisements and outdoor signs. I'm appalled at the lack of customer service these days. My first job was as a customer service representative at a bank, so I've always felt that was the top priority of any job: not just serving the customer, but serving them well. And, yeah, I get cranky about this younger generation! We old hippies have earned our right to do things our way!

It's a Retirement Life is a blog where I can blow off steam, rant about life as a senior citizen, complain about my aches and pains and costs of health care, share my joys. I promise to be humorous, sarcastic, satirical, caustic, witty and maybe even informative sometimes.

I hope you'll enjoy riding along with me on this new journey.
